Assos: The Court of Hermias of Atarneus

After Plato's death, Aristotle moved to Assos in 348/7 B.C. under the patronage of his friend Hermias, a eunuch and former slave who had come to rule the province of Atarneus in what is now Turkey. Aristotle had become friends with Hermias when the two studied together at the Academy.
